Butler has been biding his time while he waits for Portal 2 with some indie titles that have some interesting musical tricks up their sleeves.  Mini-reviews await beyond the jump!

Overdue (Guest) Review: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (PC)

With the atrociously titled F3AR on the horizon, guest writer CM Teresi checks out what’s what with FEAR 2: Project Origin. Share his profane befuddlement after the jump!

MYST: A Retrospect

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

It was 18 years ago that the original Myst was released and blew my young mind. Read on for my loving retrospect of the classic adventure game!

Overdue Review: A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda (PC)

Thursday, January 27, 2011

While staring longingly at his Steam library waiting for Dead Space 2 to unlock, Butler killed some time with Extend Interactive's A.R.E.S., a 2.5D platformer featuring robots, explosions, and some shredding 80's style guitar.  But do these objectively awesome elements combine to make a worthwhile experience?  Short answer: Yes. Longer answer after the jump!

Overdue Review: Trine (PC, Mac, Playstation Network)

Thursday, January 13, 2011

In order to wind down from his Super Meat Boy rage (for which he will never apologize), Butler highlights Frozenbyte's superb fantasy platforming title, Trine.  See why it had him taken in all the way to completion after the jump!

Overdue Review: Super Meat Boy (PC, MAC, Xbox Live Arcade)

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Butler hopes to make an example of Team Meat’s Super Meat Boy in hopes that other indie developers will learn from this cautionary tale of an OK game gone horribly awry. See how after the jump!

Overdue Review: Amnesia: The Dark Descent (PC)

Monday, December 20, 2010

Halloween may have long since come and gone, but Butler decided that the holiday season was a good time to scare himself silly.  More after the jump!

Overdue Review: Indie Double Feature

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Today's Overdue Review features two titles for the price of one! Are either of these "little games that could" strong enough to fill the gaming void of the season?  More after the jump!

Diamonds In The Rough: 3 Games That Are Almost Awesome

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

You wouldn't believe it from reading my reviews, but there are games out there that are in fact neither the worst thing ever created nor the second coming of He who is Christ.  Sometimes, a great idea simply gets screwed up by the game that gets in the way.  Will some of these (slightly older) titles tickle your fancy in spite of their flaws?   More after the jump!

Overdue (Guest) Review: Red Faction: Guerrilla (PC)

Friday, November 19, 2010

Guest writer CM Teresi swears a lot about the red planet! More after the jump!

Eating My Words: Call of Duty: Black Ops (PC)

Friday, November 12, 2010

As much as Butler wants to tear this game a new one, he just can't do it.  Find out more after the jump!

Overdue Review: Fallout: New Vegas (PC)

Monday, November 1, 2010

Butler stops playing Fallout: New Vegas long enough to review it.  Did it live up to its mighty predecessor?  Find out after the jump!

Overdue Review: Just Cause 2 (PC)

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Butler gets his reviews back to properly "overdue" status, giving a breakdown of his other summer obsession.  More after the jump.

Less Overdue Review: Dead Rising 2 (PC)

Friday, October 8, 2010

Ever the zombie fanatic, Butler delves into Dead Rising 2's Fortune City to see if there may be even more on the market to scratch his undead itch.  More after the jump!

Retrospective Review: Deus Ex (PC)

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

June 22nd, 2010 will mark the 10 year anniversary of a little title called Deus Ex.  Perhaps you remember it.  It was, after all, one of the first titles of its type (Shooter with a smattering of RPG elements).  But revisiting these old titles, as I learned the hard way with Hitman 2 can sometimes make it too clear that these titles were simply stepping stones, rather than independently good titles.  So what has the decade done to Deus Ex? By god, let's find out!

Overdue Review: Splinter Cell: Conviction (PC)

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Butler finally gets around to playing some of that Splinter Cell all the kids have been talking about.  So what is his belated verdict?   More after the jump!

Overdue Review: Plants Vs. Zombies (PC & Mac)

Friday, May 21, 2010

Popcap games delivers another title shooting for the casual crowd, but is there more depth for the more hardcore? Read on and find out!

Guild Wars 2: Could It Make MMO's Not Suck?

Monday, May 17, 2010

With all of the hype about (*sigh*) World of Warcraft, it's hard to remember sometimes that there are other MMO games out there.  Other, equally generally terrible MMOs, that is.  So why am I kind of excited for Guild Wars 2?

TIMELY Review: Beat Hazard (PC)

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Cold Beam Games' Beat Hazard is a fresh twist on an the old classic, Asteroids.  The twist?  Enemy sets, weapon power, and level strategies are influenced by the background music you select (from your own music library no less).  Can this indie interloper compete with the big dogs?
